Gentle Care for Growing Bodies

Children aren’t just small adults; they require a completely different approach to chiropractic care. At Grace Chiropractic Center, Clay uses techniques specifically designed for young patients, from newborns to teenagers. For infants, he uses gentle mobilization that involves light pressure and rocking motions rather than traditional adjustments.

A newborn baby doesn’t have the muscle strength to even hold its head up, yet it just got pulled out of the birth canal by its neck. The way we adjust babies is completely different—there’s no snapping, cracking, or hard rotating. It’s a gentle mobilization that may take five to thirty seconds. - Clay

NEW PATIENTS

Appropriate Techniques for Every Age

Toddlers and older children often respond differently to treatment. Many actually climb on the table, excited to hear the “popcorn” sound of a traditional adjustment. For children who are apprehensive or nervous, Clay continues using the gentle infant techniques until they’re comfortable with more traditional methods.

The approach is always tailored to the individual child’s comfort level and needs. Some kids are naturally curious about the process, while others need extra time and gentle encouragement.

Common Reasons Kids Visit

Most of our young patients come in for sports injuries, particularly from activities popular with Cabot area teens. Weight lifting injuries are surprisingly common among 15-year-old girls, and trampoline accidents bring in kids of all ages. Junior high and high school athletes dealing with gym-related strains and sprains make up a significant portion of our pediatric practice.

We also see little ones for various other conditions. When parents ask about issues like bedwetting or seizures, Clay is honest about chiropractic’s role: “If the cause is due to the nervous system not being stimulated properly in that area, this will help. If the cause is something else, this won’t have any effect.”

Care Centered on Your Family

Many of our pediatric patients are part of families we’ve been treating for years. It’s not uncommon to see three generations getting care on the same day. Kids who started coming as infants often bring their own children years later. This long-term relationship approach enables us to understand each child’s unique health history and provide continuity of care as they grow.
