Kinesio tape can be used for a number of soft tissue conditions anywhere on the body. You may have seen athletes on T.V. with all manner of colored tape stuck to their bodies to provide support, compression or produce a stretch. Kinesio tape is not restrictive like athletic tape is, it’s not designed to prevent all motion or limit a joints active range of motion. There are procedures to applying the tape in order to get the desired results for different parts of the body. At Grace Chiropractic Center we use KT tape for strains, sprains, bruises, plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, carpal tunnel and many other soft tissue conditions. It is a simple but effective treatment that can be shown to the patient for  home use. There are advanced methods that modify the tape so it can be used to reduce swelling and even help bruises to leave much quicker. In this method the tape gently lifts the skin and allows for a small amount of space between the muscle and skin while movement of that body part helps drive the excessive fluid out of the area.  We have seen good results with KT tape and educated a number of people about it’s use. If you are a high performance athlete, weekend warrior or just need help with everyday life make an appointment to see Dr. Clay Gross at Grace Chiropractic Center in Central Arkansas and see what we can do for you.
